I first read Chickenhawk when I was approx' 21. I read it without stop until the last two chapters, I slowed down as it felt as if I was loosing a companion. Such was the apparent honesty of the writting. Now 48 and reread it every two years and still find it refreshing.

Robert,

Chickenhawk was recommended to me by a fellow pilot that
flew Slicks in Vietnam. I'm glad I took the time to read it.
Thank you for writing such a compelling account of the
helicopter war. I am motivated to read more. And thank you
for your service to this great country of ours.

Respectfully,

Hank

Have read both chickenhawk books and I must say your detail is incredible. You make the Huey out to be extensions of your hands , feet & sight and it is your shadow .Like how you detail the operation of the Huey on your missions with collector, RPM's ,gauges , etc as it puts the reader in the pilot seat . Amidst the other chaos you describe once you landed it is truely amazing to read. 5 star ..God bless !!

endeavers.

Robert,

I have just finished reading your book. It
tears apart any preconceptions of war. I truly hope the nightmares have stopped;
but fear for many service men, past and
present, they will continue.

Thank you for your story. Warm Regards
Steve

Hello Robert,
Picked up your book again (for the umpteenth time) and as usual read it from front to back in one session. It never fails to stir a whole range of emotions and is still SO relevant to the far flung wars we are still fighting today, usually with unwilling and dubious allies. If our leaders were to take the time to read Chickenhawk, wars would be out of fashion.

Hope your life is more restful and that you have found peace.

God bless,
David Campbell

It is 4am here in Sydney and I have finally turned the last page. Chickenhawk deserves to sit alongside the Pulitzer Prize winning book "A Rumor of War". Your book has penetrated my emotions like no other. I'm gobsmacked and overwhelmed! Thank you for taking me on your journey-it has been a flight I will never forget. Kevin James-New

Hi Robert
Thank you for an amazing book,
an inspiration to me. I flew fixed wing in the
80's
and have started helicopter training a
year back. Was a conscript in
an unjust war here South Africa as a young
man, so I can sympathize with you on VN
Although my experiences were
nothing like yours.
I have started my training rather late (47)
book now makes more sense to
me 2nd time around.
Thank you, I hope you are now free of dreadful
nightmares.

Best regards
Jens
