I have just finished your book Chicken Hawk and am sitting here
silent in the sun and breeze contemplating all that you wrote.
What a great book. Like you said, looks like you've been making
the right moves. Long may it continue!

Hi, Robert.

I just wrote an article about another 227th Huey pilot that will
probably be in Rotor & Wing's February issue. He told me
about
your book; I enjoyed it, especially from a pilot's
perspective; I haven't had any ground school since 2002, and
you gave me a refresher course ;o) I have one decent photo of
a 227th Huey with the Chickenman artwork on it, but if you
have another one, I'd love to see it.

Hello Robert.
Yesterday, I finished reading the Hebrew translated version of CHICKENHAWK.
It was a very interesting book, I was reading with an excitement & anticipation. You made the reader just feel the dangerous atmosphere & the horrors of war.
As an Israeli citizen that served as a fighter in the army, & as a big fan of helicopters
( plus, my cousin was a Cobra helicopter pilot & squadron commander), I was touched by your book.
Thank you,
Hanan Baron, Journalist

Sir, I first read Chickenhawk probably 15years ago, I have since read it around twenty times and I still have a copy, (a new one as I tend to lend out the book to friends and never see it again) you inspired me to get my heli license and I have since accumulated 500hours and loved every minute. Why why why has there not been a movie made yet?????

Mister Mason,
Thank you. Thank you for the passion I started with your book 6 years ago. I cannot help crying when finishing it. It helps me to understand that everything we have in life is not granted. I read a lot about choppers jock but also LRRPs. This part of history, sixties, is such an important period of time for USA and even the world. The peace and love movement was harsh with viet nam vets.

Thank you for you book, you history and the way you tell it. Thank you

Philippe Mas

Dear Mr Mason,
I read your book in the early eighties, and have reread it a hundred times since. Your book describes a harrowing and brave journey, and is a fitting tribute to all the lives lost in vietnam. Here in the uk, we only watched what was on the news, and dont have that experience entrenched in our culture, as you do. I have grown up with this book, and feel as if I know all the characters very well.
My deepest respect.
Dominic

I read Chickenhawk years ago when I was hoping to bcome a helicopter pilot in The Army air Corps and it was amazing. I did not join up for many reasons including my eye sight but the text is something I encourage people to read as it shows an amazing journey. At 30 I ended up in rehab but at 42 my life is good and strength of character and the willingness to start again as I saw it in Chicken hawk makes this a life-changing piece of writing for me, so Thank You

Just read Chickenhawk and what a great book!
I started reading this amazing book because I like playing with flight sims and I could understand all the flying details. But the story was not just about flying in all its extremes it was about a very human journey caught up in the horrors of war and its after effects. I have ordered the sequel and look forward to reading it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

One of the most honest and inspiring books written about flying in Vietnam. I'm about to read Chickenhawk again for the umpteenth time. I flew fixed wing some years ago and had to pass your book onto my cousin who flew Huey fire bombers here, we were both blown away by your book.
Good luck Robert, now and in the future.

Robert, I just finished reading Chickenhawk for the third time. I first read it about 10 years ago. Since I have read every book I could find about the Vietnam war and yours is the best because of your honesty and openness while you were there and after you returned. Thank you for sharing the trurh and for your service. Hope all is well with you.
