I just read Chicken Hawk. In the 60s I made some of the circuit boards that went into the communitation equipment for the helicopters.I worked at Collins Radio. Now North American Rockwell.
I hope the radio equiptment worked for you.
Sincerely ,Lynn Spurgin

I first read CHICKENHAWK back in 1984,
trawling a book store to find a good for
holiday this summer I happened across
CHICKENHAWK again. To re-read your
encounters was more emotional and
thought provoking than I remember. Thanks
for sharing your story.

Reply to webmaster Apple's iBookstore, for reasons I can't fathom, lists Chickenhawk as C*********K. Perhaps the title is on Steve Jobs bad word list? You can still buy the book there.

I'm re-reading your book once again. I got it as a present before I went to the army. I served as at a CH-53 squadron an operated some computer software. But that was 20 years ago. I had the chance to fly in helicopters and I always imagined I was there with you flying in Nam

Your story of life as a chopper pilot in the thick of it in Vietnam really is gripping. One feels as if they are in the seat with you experiencing the mental and physical struggle to survive yet do the job professionally in a seemly non sensical hell. Ones perspective on what matters in life is changed completely. Many a US Army slick hauled our Australian troops across Vietnam. Hope life has made it up to you.

I have just re-read 'Chickenhawk' after several
years, and found the experience just as compelling as I did
originally. Good wishes for the future; respect for your
having come so well through your ordeal.

In 2005 at he age of 44 I began discovering a new group of personal heroes I never knew existed. They are now an important part of my life, though they will likely never know it. Thank you Mr. Mason, for everything you've done to make this happen.

Robert,.....Every time that I jumped out of a Huey, I thought about me and not the pilots. I have since learned some of the sacrifices that you guys made for us. Your book is that source of knowledge for me. Thank you very much for your courage, your skill and your willingness to put our safety up front.
Many blessings upon you guys,
Marc Goodman

Mr. Mason,
I had a well worn 1st edition of Chickenhawk, and a recent edition as I loaned out the first one. Anyhow, I had a cousin who flew Huey's in Vietnam, was diagnosed with a terminal illness and was given a medical discharge. He never told me anything of his service time, but your book helps me understand him a bit better perhaps. He was always nice to the little pest I was. Thank you.

Just read Chickenhawk for the second time. Just as enjoyable as the first time.

Anybody know who hauled the 173rd around Vietnam in '65?

Reply to webmaster Interesting to hear from ebook readers. Chickenhawk is now available on Kindle, Nook, iBook, eBook and other formats. They weren't even ideas when the book was first published in 1984!
