really enjoyed your book when I first read it nearly 20 years ago, my copy is dog eared and falling apart now, but I still pick it up once or twice a year and read it through. Few books are as enjoyable, even after 20 times...Thanks for sharing your story.

Dear Robert,

I just read your book Chickenhawk and was very much moved by your writing style, the trials you went through and your candid expose'.

I am retired AF (enlisted, crew chief) and my son is currently undergoing training to become an Army Helicopter Pilot and is hoping to get Chinooks. I have suggested he read your book.

Thank you for your service and best wishes to you and your family

Dave Warner

Sir.
I'm about half way though your book for the 6th time. When i read your book for the first time I was a 20 year old leading stoker (machinist mate) on a british submarine. I was just a 10 year old kid when you did your thing but it is still the epitamy of what we all aspire to do as a kid (this kid anyway). A great book!!! Thanks and well done on surviving all. Also best regards to your family.

Yours aye

Hi Mr Mason, I help run a small military discussion website and we recently opened a Vietnam War section and would like to invite you (and any other ex-Nam chopper pilots/crewmen reading this) to say a few words for our members.
How about if I mail you a set of say 20 questions and you answer them as briefly or as long as you like?
Best wishes

Sir, just finished your book, I was in awe of your accounts of the war. I am a Warrant Officer in Iraq right now for my 4Th time. What you went through during that year was amazing! And to think soldiers complain about how they are treated and how they lve over here. Your book should be required reading for all new recruits. Thanks!

Chief

Mr. Mason,
I hope that you and your family are well. Thank you for showing me a world I might have never otherwise known as a 16-year-old girl in Southern California.

P.S.- I hope that your case of the Clap has cleared up entirely.

Dear Mr. Mason,
I have read all your books again and again and they are all A+! My question is will you write a follow up to Chickenhawk: BITW? I have not read anything like your poignant, honest writing before or since and there's alot of us that wonder what you've done all these years and want to read about it!

Hi Robert

I discovered your book again in a 2nd hand bookstore - I previously read it when I was 12 years old (am now 27). Absolutely brilliant - devoured it in 2 days. Am fascinated by helicopters. Would love to get an email from you - I cant help wondering if you are doing OK. Thanks
Carl
