Mr. Mason, I've immensely enjoyed 'Chickenhawk' ever since I read it as a sophmore in HS. I lost my first copy in Germany with the Army, and recently found a replacement. I'm now reading for probably the 20th time. You are a great writer, and I wish you the best. Thanks for an excellent read each time.

I see that the pictures of George Willmore are no longer in the system. George is the one who loaned me your book to read. It's sad, he died the way he did after all he went through. I found my own copy of Chicken Hawk and have read it twice more. George told me he was going to invite you to Idaho after he asked me how I felt about the book ending. We both knew what you were missing. He was in a wheel chair at the time, but then he passed shortly after. I had his son contact you.

Reply to webmaster I'm sorry to hear about George's passing. He was a great guy, a real pro in combat. There are 2 photos of him here: http://www.robertcmason.com/images/Kaiser'sSlides/index.html

Hi, just read Chickhenhawk yet again, lost count of how many times over, but yet again the emotions this brings to me astound me. From laughter to tears over and over again. God bless you and your fellow pilots and all the Vietnam Veterans. Heros not villians.

Robert, got my commercial rotorcraft a few weeks ago as an add on to an ATP. I greatly enjoyed Chickenhawk and appreciate your authentic accounts of everyday heroism - and outstanding helicopter flying. Our city just dedicated a Huey at its Veterans Park on the Lake on July 4th. It has the Cav's insignia on the front. Your book now makes that static display come alive. Many thanks!

Dear Bob
We all love you so much.
You touched us all.
Please be well now and for ever more.
I've read Chickenhawk many times, I trained with you, flew with you on every mission, dreamed your nightmares, sipped your coffee and smoked your pall malls after every boned chicken c ration, yet wasn't even born while you got thru hell.
I salute you the only way I know how, I love you Bob, just come home eh? x
Tim

Hi Bob,

The only book I've ever read more than once and it 'gets' me every time! Words can't express my respect and admiration for you, the guys you write about in the book and everyone who served.

All best wishes,

Nick

Absolutely loved Chickenhawk! As an Army Paratrooper I was sent to Lebanon in 1958 and my experiences with the natives and the military world were relived in your story. I worte my own experiences down, but I am still seeking a publisher. Nice work!

After visiting your website I discovered that I read Solo and Weapon some time back, then read Chickenhawk and never connected the three books to you. You are a fantastic writer and should continue writing! Chickenhawk is fantastic. I've read it probably 20 times, and each time I enjoy it more.

Best of luck to you and your future projects.

mason,
chickenhawk touched me like no other book has. the sense of realism was infectious and provocative.
i don't refer books on to my friends very often - actually before chickenhawk never - but this one is really special and i have shared it now with those who i think are worthy of it.
really loved it man.
thanks for making my life a little more humble. wish i had been there to share it all with you.

Dear Bob, Recently my daughter came across some letters to and from Patience and asked what this was about. I explained that I wrote to a judge and appeals board on your behalf. The next next thing a knew she had located your web page. I am reading Weapon and can't tell how happy I am for you. Continued happiness and success.

Dear Mr Mason, my father purchased your book while we were on holiday in Thailand. I was 13 at the time.... now some 23 years later i still read of your experiences and they still have the same effect as they did when i was young. thankyou for writing what i think is in my eyes the greatest book i have ever picked up, and will never put down.

Dear Mr. Mason:

I first read this book while deployed in the marines during the 80's, and just found it again on audio books, and listened to it again. I must thank you for such a well written piece of history. Thank you for your perseverance in getting this out to us. I was riveted by the last few sentences. Thank you Sir, for your service, your sacrifice, and for your diligence. God Bless You, and Semper Fi!! Now I just have to find the rest of your books to feed my mp3 player!!
