Mr. Mason I just finished Chickenhawk tonight. I could not put it down. I am applying for WOFT hopefully in February and your book has solidified my goal. I just wanted to let you know that. Thanks.

Mr. Mason,
I just finished your book for the second time, this time as a pilot myself. I am a 24 year old airline captain for one of the majors which gave me a new appreciation for the book, and all I can say is well done.
I hope everything is going well for you and if you are ever in Seattle give a shout.

I first read Chickenhawk while backpacking through Vietnam in 2000 after I bought a 1$ bootleg copy from an entrepreneurial Vietnamese kid's shoebox. I became fascinated with helo's ever since! I'm happy to say I bought the real McCoy again 9 years later in a proper bookstore. I ate it up just as fast too! All the best for you and yours Mr. Mason!

I cried when I finished "Back in the World", really, cried.I was losing a friend I wouldn't be able to share his life anymore.I read "ChickenHawk" several times before I read "Back" every time was good at getting lost in a time warp.I served in USN on cargo ship and was a REMF.You had to swim to be more rear.I watched firefights at night on our helopad while loud music played and we partied. We all had no idea. Thanks,I know I have learned a lot from you.

deployed to iraq on the 21st. I asked him if he ever read the
book and he hasnt. So i will be sending this to him. Im sure he
will love it. Thanks again

Hi Bob, I am a new helicopter pilot reading everything about Vietnam I can get my hands on. I read Bonnie Sue and Chickenhawk and could never have imagined what you guys went through. I admire you for what you sacrificed and can only hope you have found peace of mind. I look forward to reading Back in the World next. By the way, was Harper\banjo a banjo player and is he still around? Thanks for everything. Jim

I have just read Chickenhawk, an absolutely outstanding book. You and all the brave servicemen that served in Vietnam deserved better treatment than you received, on your return home.

Thank you for writing the book "Chickenhawk" i'm now on my 7th copy and i've read it close on to 20 times!! Its got to be one of the best accounts i've read about any conflict. Its also good to see the pictures on the site and be able to put names to faces!

You need to see about getting the book on the big screen!! it'd be awsome!!

I'm halfway thru Chickenhawk and am enjoying it emensley. I was in Nam from 67 to 69, two tours. I spent some time in Qui Nhon but was mainly north at Bong Son and LZ Mo Duc and Duc Pho. You've brought back memories, actually it seems like another lifetime, was it really me, it was crazy. I have hooked a water trailer under a chinook and I got a kick out of you describing it in your book, you do nearly get blown away. Thanks much for the book, good job and Welcome Home!!!

I have your book for about a week and have almost finished it. I do not have a lot of time to read due to school, but it is very inspiring and i do not want to put it down when i read it. I love they way you portray the real side of war and the characters. Thanks.
