Mr. Mason
I have read your books many times and was always inspired by your story. I just returned from a tour in Iraq where I flew UH-60's for the Army. You inspired me to write a book about my experiences in Iraq and my years flying helicopters in Bush Alaska. Thanks again for your service and your inspiration. JC

Hi! I finished reading your book and saw in the afterword about your website. I just wanted to say that I was assigned to read your book for one of my classes and found out that it was the best book I have ever read! My teacher recommended it to me and now I know why! Thank you so much for the wonderful book!

I am a civilian Helicopter pilot in Seattle. I read and very much enjoyed both your books- Chickenhawk and Back in the world. Your stories are truly amazing ! Is there any talk of making one or both into movies ?

currently rereading Chickenhawk. i like it even better this
time. your description of the helicopter and what is involved
in learning to fly one is amazing; very clearly drawn. it
really puts the reader in the cockpit. i have an uncle who
flew HUEYs in Vietnam, but he's never wanted to talk about
it. i know he was shot down two times and was rescued. he
recommended i read FIREBIRDS by Chuck Carlock, which
was good, but not as good as Chickenhawk. Thanks for
serving.

Hi Robert,

I just finished chickenhawk for the first time. I am a 35 yr old army brat whose dad served with an australian infantry battalion in 1970. It was a great story. It really made me stop and think about the experiences you guys had and how you had to come to terms with normal life after your service - how is that kind of adjustment possible? The sign of a gook book to me is one which sees me sitting on the back deck pondering .....

thanks. stu gillett

Bob, I flew Cobra's with the 1st Cav, for one tour, plus a six-month extension. I recently finished a book. I would like to send you one chapter to review, pursuant to your advice on how to get published. My writing is excellent...the stories are all true. It goes to great length into PTSD, and the after-effects on my life. Interested?

Mr. mason your book is great. I am currently a junior in high school and read your book for a book report I am currently writing for my English class. I was wondering though were exactly was the prospectors home base at?

sincerely,
Nathan

Read Chickenhawk while I was working in Cabinda, Angola of all places. It was a tatty old copy that looked as tho it had been read a thousand times. Even tho pages were falling out every time i turned the page I couldn't put it down! We were also beside a helliport which used old HUEYs to take people offshore so when you wrote about the noise I could hear it sometimes as i lay reading your awesome book. Just stunning! Thanks

Bob, we haven't exchanged emails in a long time. Will get the new book ASAP. You filled in for my instructor at Wolters and we met in Detroit when you were on a book tour for Patience' book. Email me.

Mr. Mason,
I recently purchased the updated Chickenhawk and read it twice. What a truly awesome and inspiring book. So inspiring that I recently took my first helicopter lesson and can now relate to the training narrative in the book (I would like it better if you kept the helicopter over one spot or another that we both know about, if you don't mind!). It would mean a lot to me if you could autograph my book. May I send it to you with a return envelope?
