Mr. Mason, I want to thank you for an outstanding book. I have read it multiple times. I just found the website and learned of the other books. You can bet I will be picking them up soon. And as a veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq I want to thank you for your service.

Robert, i have lost count of how many times
I have read Chickenhawk. It sits in my
bookcase like an old friend . I write this on
the 23rd April in Tasmania but on the
19th we were in Saigon relaxing
after 3 weeks travelling in Vietnam. Your
book inspired me to go and see for myself.
Thank you for the book and for
sharing your experiences.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Wayne Bass

Robert, I found your book Chickenhawk in a
random bookshop on a beach in Thailand for
200baht. I have since bought a new copy
and have re-read it twice. Incredible story...
and life - I was simply speechless the first
time I finished your book. Despite being
published in 1983, your experiences in
Vietnam could be even more relevant now.
Sincerely, my best wishes to you and your
family.

As a kid growing up, and reaching the age where I was about to go to vietnam, I was happy to see the draft end. Maybe then the only people that gave a shit were the people getting tagged to go or on there way or already there, or that had survived. Very Happy to know you survived. I'd be highly interested to read a sequel dealing with your life after. I got degrees in psychology and worked a while at a VA hospitial in a substance abuse unit in which PTSD was very common.

I was 41 years in the Royal Air Force, 31 years as a Flight Engineer I have read many books during my 64 years of many different types but only one in which I can say 'You must read in your lifetime'. I passed my copy on to another person who in his sixties is still flying comercially and has been flying even longer than me and his remark to me after reading it was ' What a SUPERB book Chickenhawk is.' It Reminds me of the Forgotten Voices Books.

Hello.
I just finished reading your book.
In my opinion this is the best book describing the experiences, people, and you are one of the best pilots in the world.
Fans also see some of your pictures from that period.
As we say in Poland: Najlepsze życzenia, zdrowia i niech ci się dobrze wiedzie! that is. Best wishes, health and let you good leads!

Chickenhawk is a brillant read, I first read it in 1985 and have re-read on 3 times occasions and gets better each time.
The book is so absorbing you can't put it down, such a powerful emotional journey and in a few years time I will read again.
Thanks Bob.

I am a 1968-1969 Vietnam Vet. I have not been able to read or watch any movies about the Vietnam War until recently. Your book is one of the best I have ever read. It brought me to tears more than once. Thank You so much for your service, and for your book. God Bless you and your family. Ron

Robert I hope this note finds you well. I just read my old yellowed 1985 printed copy of Chickenhawk again. What a great book, even better that I found this site to see the pictures of the people and places. I think a movie should be made based on Chickenhawk. Thanks for your service and a great book.

Just a great read... Really enjoyed reading ChickenHawk, again!! First time was back in 1984. While moving, last week, I opened a misc. box, and there was your book, sitting on top... It brings back a lot of memorys, from my time in the Army... Here's wishing you and your family the best.
