Just a great read... Really enjoyed reading ChickenHawk, again!! First time was back in 1984. While moving, last week, I opened a misc. box, and there was your book, sitting on top... It brings back a lot of memorys, from my time in the Army... Here's wishing you and your family the best.

I really cracked up when I read about the ARVN translator you
were toying with about all the ridiculous sentences and he only
knew one answer. Thanks for a great book and a great read!

I want to thank you for your service and for writing CH--I just re-read it--from a grunt who served in 1st Air Cav. Oct 68-Oct 68. Bong Son at first, then the Cav moved up to I Corps in time for Tet and the siege at Khe Sanh, all the time in the jungle. You and guys like you were our lifeline and much appreciated. You have my good will and I hope you'll do more writing. Any time you visit Anchorage, I'll spring for dinner.

I found Chickenhawk sitting on my bookcase just waiting to be
read. I just finished it and what an excellent book it was. You are
a great pilot and a great author, oh and don't forget
photographer. Best wishes from Australia Bob!

I just finished Chickenhawk not ten minutes
ago. I started it last Tuesday. This may be
the best book on any war that I've ever
read, as it covers the experience before and
after. Mr. Mason is one of those writers that
harbors my deepest admiration and respect.

Bob,
Do you still live on the Santa Fe River?
Sure would love to have the chance to say
THANK YOU for what you have done for me
and my family. My dad was in Special
Forces. My husband is reading
Chickenhawk, and I just picked it up to
look at it ..... it drew me in like a vacuum.
I pray you have found peace enough to
be able to sleep at night. I don't
think my Dad ever did. He died in 1973
from a stroke, after all the wars he had been in. I would love to hear from you.

I first read the book in 1983 while stationed at Quantico VA as a huey crewchief in the Marines.
My roommate who loaned me the book was killed in a helicopter crash in Panama some 7 years later.
I can't imagine the stress that a Vietnam pilot must have gone thru

Finished Chickenhawk last night for the second time (about 20 years after I first read it). I just sat up in bed for a time and thought how lucky I was. I've passed it today to my son who's 20 and told him to read it. I hope you and your family are well.

I love your book, Chickenhawk and have read it several times. I was a Huey crewchief in a Medevac unit at Fort Polk, LA in the '70s. I once looked up your phone number and actually spoke to you! I was so nervous and tongue-tied that I'm sure you thought I was a nut but you were still gracious. Thank you for writing this wonderful book.

Mr Mason,
My 1st cy of Chickenhawk I loaned to every fellow former doorgunner or pilot I knew, and lost it. Today I purchased another copy and it will remain a treasured part of my personal library. I'm a civilian pilot now. If I flew over to High Springs one afternoon, I wonder if it would be possible to have you autograph my new copy?
Thank you for your service. Welcome home, Brother.
